Another tablet sketch - this time it is drawn with a cool present from my girlfriend in front of me: a fantastic replica model of a '67 Mustang Fastback GTA (cooooooor...)
The sketch isn't superb, but that's what it is, a little observation sketch at a tricky angle, again, just for a little more practice with my lovely new tablet!

Ford Taurus SHO tablet sketch
Got a wonderful tablet for Christmas from my Dad, and I've been saying for yonks that my sketching would be a million times better working digitally with one... So here's my first little sketch (it is in fact a trace to get my hand in) of a Taurus SHO, It's an american car, but I am a fan of the front end.
In any case, expect plenty more sketching from me - New Year's resolution: Page of Sketches a day. Hopefully this time next year, I'll be way ahead of where I am now just on the sketching front while my course is focusing on 3D modelling and research projects...!

Rolls Royce Champion 2015
Here's my last month and bit of University: this is hugely concised, but noone is going to want to look through every last little doodle on the backs of envelopes! Just a few final pieces, and a couple of sketches here, my hand in is tomorrow, and I finished last night, so quite pleased with everything.

German Shepherd Line Drawing Development
My apologies for a very sporadic couple of months, I've been pretty busy being back at University, studying Auto Design, so it's taken a bit of a priority. Actually, that's a lie, FIFA13 and beer have taken the priority, much to my anguish now my first deadline is looming.
Though this post isn't automotive, in fact, it's not even design, it's a nice little colour line art study to support some of my clay sculptures that I'm currently working with until November. If anyone is in fact interested, this is my dog, Rocky.
Hopefully, once I've settled a little with my uni based work, I can start adding that to my online portfolio here and my posts might even become regular! Give it another couple of weeks or so and I'll be back online a little more.

Chilled Driving Tuition Citroen DS3
This is the car I learnt to drive in, and I gave this print to my instructor as a little gift to say thanks. It's dated for a good few weeks ago, but I've kept it off my blog just in case he managed to chance across it!
This is also something of a plug for Chilled Driving Tuition: definitely have my recommendation, if you're in the Norwich, Norfolk area.
Various sketches with a marker render a few biro drawings, finished in PS and printed as an A3 poster.
This is also my first proper collection of a selection of sketches.

Willys Jeep3
In all honestly, I'm quite disappointed with this design. The initial sketches and mini brief I gave myself were for a totally utilitarian vehicle: four off-road tyres, two hard and uncomfortable seats, a dashboard with just a tacho and somewhere for the key to go in, and a loading bed for tents or barrels... or machine guns if the army want it back!
This has turned into a big fat off roader with leather seats... and seatbelts!
Here's the old one too, I kept this close by so I didn't stray too far (didn't work as well as I'd hoped)
Because it's not what I had initially wanted I'm not fond of the design on most levels. The grille is too overpowering and the car is too short: in this state, I think it is too similar to the Jeep Wrangler or the Land Rover Defender. This should be totally unique, maybe I should have a little revision, and roughen it up around the edges a little. Or, at a stretch, it could always be a Wrangler variant? Barely seems worth it in that case.

2013 Chevrolet Bel Air
I'm quite pleased with this beauty... I know the sketch render is not perfect, but I like the style... though it doesn't necessarily match up with the photoshop studio I've popped it in... In any case, I think this has been quite successful, from biro sketch to this... I might follow up with a full PS render, if I can find the time over the next week (moving house, you see, back to Coventry University, ready to resume my studies)
The design has a few throwbacks to the classic models, throughout its generations, but the most obvious being the MkIII's two tone chrome profile.
Rivals being the Audi S7, BMW 7 Series, Merc S-Class, that sort of market. I'd have one. First design on my own that I would.

Chevrolet Bel Air
Definitely fair to say that since everyone is out and I am left to my own devices for most of the day now, I have become quite productive... Here's another little idea of mine - the revival concept of the classic 50's Bel Air (not worth a mention after the MkIII) Simply couldn't lose that wonderful two tone.
Something akin to the Maybach in terms of passenger luxury, possibly?

Alfa Romeo Dakar
Back to a little bit of sketching now ... This Alfa Romeo Dakar Concept was thrown together looking at some of Alfa's older cars, the newer Brera and, of course, the mean beasties of the Dakar Rally.

Gemini Roadster
This fella is a Steampunk style car (I know steampunk is well overdone!) but I thought I'd have a little play with the style, and also with a couple of the techniques I used in the sketching and rendering of this little car. Consider it more an exercise in design than an actual piece of aesthetic design. It's very much a 'Bits of' car.
The sketch on which this is based is from August 5th. This piece didn't take the last month, more that I put it aside and only in the last day or so came back to it to finish it up.

Mercedes K Class
This is in fact my first full render without using another chassis to work on top of, hence some slightly odd proportions, perhaps, but I certainly need to do this more to keep work original.
Also... I need a tablet, all of this has been done with a laptop touchpad, so it's a little scruffy: however I think I'll take a slightly more photographic approach for the front quarter render.

Kia pro_cee'd
Had some family visit this weekend, they brought their Kia pro_cee'd, and behind the badge, I think its a fantastic looking machine! Threw these few sketches together last night to keep me busy!

Steampunk Roadster
Went to a Steam fair yesterday, got all excited by the traction engines, so had a little play with the Steam-punk idea... Hopefully will follow it up with a few more sketches and maybe a couple of photoshop renders.

Jack Daniel's SLC
Saw the Holden Commodore Wagon in a J.D. livery so got me thinking with a couple of little sketches, this time a sports car instead of the estate, and again, back to having a little play on Photoshop with the livery and paint schemes, grilles, wheels and so on. Found a nice little forum on the net yesterday that is proving a huuuuge help using PS, getting the shades and highlights just right, especially when it came to the lettering over the form of the car.
Anyone fancy a drink?

Utility Super Sports
Here we go... What's a Camaro without an SS... What's a Muscle car with a dirty big engine and what could quite easily be a lot of clutch smoke pouring out of the back... I toyed with the idea of an attractive lady and a confederate flag giving her some decency, she just didn't look happy!
Not only that, but I did promise you the sketch that gave me the idea for some of these a while ago. The Ute might not be anything new, but at the end of the day, it's good practise getting it right with derivatives, good practise with Photoshop, and just a little bit more fun than doing a ... well, a Micra.
I imagine you're all quite tired of Camaros now, so I shall only do two more specials... Keep an eye out for those!
Pick Up Needed A Pick Me Up!
A few months ago I did a little doodle, and this turned into a sketch... a Utility vehicle with a Camaro grille.... basically, a pick-up on a sports car (heard of the Aussie Ute?)
Anyhow, since I've hit a bit of a dead end with the front face of my Alfa design, I hoped that rendering them up onto the Chevy Camaro might keep me occupied for a couple of days.
There's just one more render that I'm taking a bit of extra special time to do, get it just right, and I'll show it with the original doodle that I decided that there should be Camaro Pick-ups... In fact, I think there could be a whole commercial vehicle range here, for the blue collar, moonshine swigging red neck...

C Class Sports-Estate
Fiesta Break
My Ford Fiesta Estate variant, named the Break,
"Break away from the crowd"
Better described as a lifestyle vehicle, since the trunk capacity has really only marginally increased! On par with the Skoda Fabia Estate, and the low rung BMW 1 Series.
This was part of my university brief earlier this year, and although it is a derivative and not wholly my own design, I'm still very pleased, particularly since it was one of the first times I had used Photoshop.

3DTuning.ru
For anyone who likes to have a little play with cars, I really can't recommend this site enough: it's a little slow sometimes, but it's great fun! <<http://www.3dtuning.ru/en/>>
The site does all the hard work, really, but putting big ol' bumpers and some absurd details is fun.
Here's just a few of my favourites from there... I'm not the biggest fan of customising cars at all, but some of the stuff is pretty cool! Two Mercs, a Toyota, MINI, Ford, Peterbilt and BMW.

Eurofighter Typhoon
Force Nine
This motorcycle design comes from the few main sketches that I prepared for my portfolio review for Coventry University Automotive Design, and as it did me well, the design means a lot to me. This is my first go at a proper render of the motorcycle, and no doubt, over the coming months and years, I will develop this design until I am very happy with it. I don't expect the next will have wonky wheels though!
Eddie Stobart 'Rosalind Marie'
Yes, I like my Stobart Trucks. For any real pedants, the "Rosalind Marie" is not an actual vehicle, just a name I gave it myself.
Bullen!
A little Porsche police motor for you to enjoy. Need to practise Rims. I've realised that it is wheels that really set off a car, both in drawings an in reality! Also might have to treat myself to a proper scanner, uploading camera pics simply do not do these justice!
